Fired event rowupdating

But it still throws the same exception, although I've read on a couple of sites that changing it to On Row Editing and Grid View Edit Event Args would solve the problem. I am using a Template Field to display my Edit, Update and Cancel 'buttons' in the first column of the Grid View within respective Item Template and Edit Item Template fields. Can any one suggest me how I can get rowupdating event to fire in such a condition? Also You might have missnamed the control to validate for the required fieldvalidatore. If it does not solve the problem show us ur code so that we can help better In case of client side validations postback itself should not happen. In my case post back is happening and all other events including rowcommand event is firing with the command name as update. Hi, I have a gridview with some template columns and have set Autogenereate Edit Columns="True". But when I add a required field validator to one of the columns in edit item template rowupdating event is not firing. Instead of having Auto Generated Edit button, you can manually use Link Buttons. It might be because the field is empty which is causing client side validations. Can any one suggest me how I can get rowupdating event to fire in such a condition? As you've insert a validation control, if fires the validation when you click on edit.(Note, in the gridview the One strange thing that I've noticed that makes me think it's a View State problem is that if I change the Command Name of the Update button to "Edit" that postback event does get captured in the Row Command event...

I have a Grid View bound to a Data Table which comes from a database.Do you have some sort of Java Script functionality that may be stopping it? A common problem people have with Grid Views is understanding when to data bind the data source to the Grid View.-Frinny Hi all, I seem to be having the same issue but I don't quite follow the trouble with the above post. Can you explain the T/S a little more or maybe point me to another post that may have already covered it? Can you explain the T/S a little more or maybe point me to another post that may have already covered it? It's quite common that people create the data source and bind this source to the Grid View in their Page_Load() method.Within the Item Template I have an Image Buttong with a Command Name of "Edit".This works as expected and I can put a breakpoint in the Row Command event handler to see the "Event" command name.

If you do this, your Grid View's source will be refreshed before you're able to grab the new values out of it.

  1. I read every book, and I spoke to lots of single men to hear their perspectives about women and dating after 50. Who knew that the best relationship of my life could come along at this age?
